NURS361 - Quality Management and Accreditation (1 Credits)
This course provides an overview of the principles, practices, and application of quality systems in health care organizations. It provides the knowledge on quality improvement and accreditation processes to improve skills of future health professionals. In addition, it discusses the mechanisms for effective preparedness and implementation of accreditation standards in hospitals.
NURS103 - Introduction to Ethics (1 Credits)
This course focuses on exploring values, codes and principles that govern ethical decisions in professional practice within nursing care settings. Particular emphasis is given to the resolution of ethical dilemmas through ethical reasoning and ethical obligations in health professional patient relationships. Case studies of potential and actual ethical issues and dilemmas arising in nursing practice are analyzed using the intellectual standards of critical thinking in a framework of ethical decision making.
NURS155 - Anatomy - Physiology II (3 Credits)
This course will provide a superficial yet sufficient view over the anatomy and physiology of human body. It is complementary for Nurs 116; hence, covering the aspects not dealt with in Nurs 116. Major systems such as central nervous system, musculoskeletal, and renal systems are covered in this course. The course will grossly help the student pinpoint the location and function of any organ or tissue within human corps, relate the function of organs to major pathologies the nurse might be faced with during his practice.
NURS208 - Cardiovascular System N.C. (2 Credits)
This course provides basic overview of the anatomy and function of the human Cardiac system, and its assessment as well. Health alterations of the Cardiovascular system are also studied. The student will learn advanced principles and concepts related to the care of adults with Cardiovascular disorders. In addition, this course integrates advanced nursing concepts in caring for patients with Cardiovascular disorders and apply nursing process in specialty areas, acute care and in community settings.
NURS209 - Respiratory System N.C. (2 Credits)
This course provides basic overview of the anatomy and function of the Respiratory system, and its assessment as well. Health alterations related to the respiratory system are also studied. The student will learn advanced principles and concepts related to the care of adults with respiratory disorders. In addition, this course integrates advanced nursing concepts in caring for patients with respiratory disorders and applies nursing process in specialty areas, acute care and in community settings.
NURS233 - Pharmacology II (2 Credits)
This course provides an overview of the major diseases affecting different systems of the human body and drugs utilized in the management and treatment of such diseases. In addition, It describes the mechanism of action of major drug classes and their adverse reactions.
NURS247 - Hospital Organization and Administration (1 Credits)
This course is intended to provide nursing students with the theory, knowledge, and necessary application of leadership and management principles of health care system in diverse environments. It also provides an overview of the most important contemporary issues that health care administrators deal with on daily basis.
NURS261 - Musculoskeletal System and N.C. (1 Credits)
The course describes the basic function and structure of the musculoskeletal system. It also provides basic information about the nursing management, rehabilitation, and health education needs of the patients with musculoskeletal disorders. In addition, it specifies diagnostic tests and modalities used for assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders consecutively.
NURS272 - Endocrine System Pathology and N.C. (2 Credits)
This course provides basic understanding of the anatomy and function of the endocrine system, and the assessment as well. This course will be an overview of disorders related to endocrine and metabolic systems in all patient populations. In addition, it provides the student with information, strategies and techniques of how to take care of a patient with disorders of the endocrine system.
NURS276 - Digestive System N.C. (2 Credits)
This course provides basic overview of the anatomy and function of the Gastrointestinal tract, and its assessment as well. Health alterations of the digestive system are also studied. The student will learn advanced principles and concepts related to the care of adults with gastrointestinal disorders. In addition, this course integrates advanced nursing concepts in caring for patients with gastrointestinal disorders and applies nursing process in specialty areas, acute care and in community settings.
NURS302 - Geriatric Pathology (1 Credits)
This course introduces the students to a different type of patient population which is the Geriatric population. It highlights the main diseases that they suffer from. It also discusses the major challenges and obstacles faced by this population as well as the people taking care of them mainly health care providers.
NURS314 - Public Health and Community Nursing (1 Credits)
Lebanon and many countries in the world have witnessed tremendous growth in the area of public health and community. This course will focus on the identification of health problems in specific target populations and the development of plans for community health education programs, campaigns and interventions. It will also provide students with knowledge on basic elements of public health in general and community health nursing in particular. Moreover, this course provides students with potential career path in community health education, as one of the main pillars of public health, and other related health professions.
NURS338 - Neurology System N.C. (2 Credits)
This course provides basic overview of the anatomy and function of the human nervous system, and its assessment as well. Health alterations of the neurological system are also studied. The student will learn advanced principles and concepts related to the care of adults with neurologic disorders. In addition, this course integrates advanced nursing concepts in caring for patients with neurologic disorders and apply nursing process in specialty areas, acute care and in community settings.
NURS354 - Hematology N.C and Oncology N.C. (1 Credits)
This course provides the students with the proper knowledge of the nursing processes and frameworks utilized for the care of patients who are suffering from blood disorders and different types of cancer.
NURS364 - Neonatal and Pediatric Pathology and N.C. (3 Credits)
The course is designed to enable nursing student to care for the healthy as well as the sick children. It emphasizes on provision of comprehensive and competent nursing care for different age group of children and their families. Indeed, the course provides chances to deal with varieties of pediatric medical and surgical health problems.
NURS374 - Obstetrics and Gynecology N.C. (2 Credits)
This course provides details about the gross anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system, physiological changes that take place in a woman's body during pregnancy, describe major complications of pregnancy, and the sequence of anatomical changes experienced by the mother during the process of labor and delivery. In addition, it covers main disorders related to the female reproductive system.
NURS377 - Critical Care and Emergency (3 Credits)
This course provides a comprehensive, deep, and breadth of nursing knowledge and skills used to care for the critically ill patients with the different acute and life threatening conditions and their families. It also includes information about the most commonly used critical care nursing procedures, the routine care for the most commonly inserted invasive devices, and the routine care for the most commonly used machines.
NURS378 - Renal System N.C. (2 Credits)
This course provides basic overview of the anatomy and function of the Renal, urinary, and male reproductive system, and its assessment as well. Health alterations related to the renal system are also studied. The student will learn advanced principles and concepts related to the care of adults with renal disorders. In addition, this course integrates advanced nursing concepts in caring for patients with renal disorders and applies nursing process in specialty areas, acute care and in community settings.
NURS381 - Practicum V (4 Credits)
This course is designed to train suitably qualified experienced third year student nurses mainly in Critical care units, and emergency departments. This will be done after the completion of the specialized nursing courses such as Critical care and Emergency Nursing Care, Pharmacology II and all other nursing care courses. The students are supposed to take care of patients through performing complex nursing skills competently depending on commonly utilized standards of care within a hospital based environment.
NURS309 - Practicum IV (3 Credits)
This course is designed to train suitably qualified experienced third year student nurses mainly in specialized medical surgical floors, pediatric wards, nursery, labor and delivery and maternity ward. This will be done after the completion of the specialized nursing courses such as Hematology and Oncology Nursing Care, Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing Care, Neonatal and Pediatric Nursing Care, Pharmacology II and courses related to other systems. The students are supposed to take care of patients through performing complex nursing skills competently depending on commonly utilized standards of care within a hospital based environment.
