Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Jinan University accepts students according to the stipulated criteria for admission and registration without any regard to race, color, nationality, sect or disability.

Bachelor's Degree

Undergraduate Admission

To be eligible for admission to undergraduate programs, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a high school diploma (Lebanese baccalaureate or its equivalent).

• Complete all required documents within the deadline.

• Pay the application and entrance exam fees.

• Pass the entrance exam according to the admission criteria established by the faculties and departments.

*Candidates holding a technical baccalaureate or equivalent may be accepted under the condition of specialization compatibility.

Graduate Admission - Honors and Diploma Degrees

• Hold a high school diploma (Lebanese baccalaureate or its equivalent).

• Hold a bachelor’s degree or a university degree compatible with the required specialization from a university or a higher institute that is accredited in Lebanon.

• Complete all required documents within the deadline.

• Pay the application fees.

Required Documents

1. A certified copy of personal identification or passport.

2. A certified copy of high school diploma (the Lebanese baccalaureate or equivalent).

3. A certified copy of high school transcript for three years.

4. A certified copy of bachelor's degree or a university degree with its equivalence and transcripts.

5. Personal photos (2).

6. Filled application and payment of registration fees.


Registration Procedure

Upon receipt of their admittance letter, students should go to the Admission and Registration office:

1- Students should pay a deposit (to be specified by the University’s Financial Department according to each student’s major) at the bank designated by the University. This deposit will count toward a down-payment of the relevant semester’s fees.

2- Upon presentation of their bank receipts, students will be allowed to choose their courses with the approval of their respective Faculty Advisors, who will sign the registration forms, after ensuring that no schedule conflict will occur and that the chosen courses correspond to the required curricula.

3- Students should submit their registration forms to the Admission and Registration office where the minimum and maximum numbers of allowed courses are checked. The students will then get a copy of their registration forms.

4- Students should then refer to the Financial Department to collect their fee slips and schedule their payments.

5- Upon completion of the registration procedure, students should return to the Admission and Registration office to get their ID cards which will give them full authorized access to the campus and examination rooms.


Transfer Students from Other Universities

Jinan University accepts transfer students from other universities or higher education institutes in Lebanon or abroad in accordance with the following conditions:

1. To be an accredited university or a higher institute in Lebanon.

2. The student must not have left study or work in the field of specialization for more than 3 years.

3. The student must not have been expelled from his university or a higher institute for behavioral reasons.

4. The student will be exempted from equivalent subjects with good grades from a private university or higher institute or an acceptable GPA average from a public university or higher institute.

5. Transfer credits must not exceed half of the curriculum.

Transfer Students from Vocational Institutes

Jinan University accepts transfer students from accredited vocational institutes in accordance with the following conditions:

1. Hold a high school diploma (Lebanese baccalaureate or its equivalent).

2. Hold a vocational honors certificate or its equivalent.

3. Specialization compatibility.

4. The student must not have left study or work in the field of specialization for more than 3 years.

5. The student must not have been expelled from his university or the higher institute for behavioral reasons.

6. The student who has a vocational honors certificate with a grade of 12/20 or more will be exempted from half of the curriculum and half of the study period.

7. The student who has a vocational honors certificate with a grade less than12/20 will be exempted from the equivalent subjects in which he achieved a grade of 14/20 from a public or private institute and a grade of 12/20 in the official Vocational Honors Certificate.

8. Transfer credits must not exceed half of the curriculum.

Required Documents for transfer students

1. A certified copy of all certificates after high school.

2. A certified copy of transcripts.

3. A certified copy of course descriptions.


Entrance Exams

New students should sit for the entrance exams in the required subjects according to the admission policy for each faculty or department. The student must get a required grade for each subject or pass the remedial courses demanded later that qualify him to study the major.

New students are exempted from the entrance exam in scientific subjects in which they got "good or C" grade (70% or more) in the official Lebanese high school diploma. Transfer students are exempted from the entrance exam in any subject they passed in an accredited university or a higher institute.

A student who has one of the following scores:
475 or more on the paper based TOEFL
55 or more on the iBT TOEFL
5.5 or more on the ILETS
will be exempted from the English language exam. An English test score is valid for one year only.

Entrance exams are conducted in July, September and February every year. Students can review the academic calendar through the university website: www.jinan.edu.lb or at the student orientation office on campus.

The student must get the passing grade of the required subjects or pass the remedial courses that qualify him to study the major.

English Language Requirements

The English language is mandatory for all majors and it is the teaching language of the major courses in the Science, Business, Public Health and Translation Faculties. According to the results on the entrance exam, students are placed in one of the four remedial levels of English or exempted.
English language levels are taught simultaneously with the other subjects in order to facilitate student's graduation in the suggested study period.
