Al-Jinan University announces the graduation of the Class of 2018

Under the patronage and attendance of the chairperson of the board of trustees Dr. Salem Fathi Yakan and the participation of the president of the university Professor Bassam Baraka, the director general Dr. Bassam Hijazi, the director of the Saida branch Dr. Assaad Al Nadiri, a gathering of religious, social and political figures complimented by the presence of parents took place on the 28th of July, 2018 to celebrate the 12th generation of graduates.





​The commencement began with the national anthem, the university’s anthem and then followed by warm Quraanic recitations by Dr. Sheikh Ali Jradi. The Master of Ceremony Dr. Elissar Farhat welcomed the guests and the students equally before giving her well-spoken opening speech, leaving the floor to the valedictorian.



After the valedictorian speech given by Maymouna Akel, a student from the Faculty of Health, professor Assad Al Nadiri expressed his pride in the Jinan foundation for having crossed its 30 year mark after being founded by the late Dr. Mona Haddad. The issuance of Decree 3213 (dated May 29 2018) was yet another reason to celebrate on that occasion.



Professor Al Nadiri expressed his fondness of the constant diversity of students in the university. He warmly asked the students to remain loyal to their university, instructors, parents and country. Most importantly, he wished of them to be open to others and fight apprehension, fanaticism and isolationism.



Professor Bassam Baraka reminisced over Dr. Haddad’s achievements as well as the achievements of Al Jinan Alumni who went on to make their marks in several prestigious institutions. Both the former and the latter’s roles were important in building and strengthening the relationships with other universities around the world.



Dr. Salem Yakan gave a heartfelt speech in which he expressed the importance of knowledge as a shield for every individual from ignorance and intolerance as well as a weapon against introversion and isolation.



The English Program Coordinator Mrs. Ghaidaa Abou Zeid announced the names of the graduates after giving her warm words to the parents, the most vital and dear stakeholder to the Jinan foundation.



The ceremony was concluded by the graduates’ oath which was taken by Ahmed Al Jamal, a business administration student, who was surrounded by his fellow students. The students then followed by throwing their graduation caps into the air, feeling nothing but pride and affection towards their second home, Al Jinan University.
